PORSCHE 911 SPEEDSTER

This is Car No. 334 out of 356.

HISTORY

The original Porsche 356 Speedster from 1948, has long occupied a small but perfectly formed slot in the Porsche hall of fame. It was Porsche's US importers who suggested the idea, a simple, no frills, open top take on the then-current 356 model ideally suited to the sun kissed environment of California.

Fast-forward a few decades and the Speedster was reborn, this time based on that Eighties icon, the 911. The first 911 Speedster was based on the 964 911 of 1992, and after becoming an instant classic, Porsche decided to stick the Speedster badge on Stuttgart's finest once again, the Porsche 997 911 you see here.

Power from the Porsche 997 911 Speedster comes from a 3.8 Litre flat- 6 cylinder engine producing 408 horsepower. Standard features that make driving the Porsche 911 Speedster even more exhilarating include a seven-speed Porsche double-clutch transmission, Porsche Active Suspension Management and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake.

Also as homage to past classics Porsche fitted Fuchs Design rims, well known among Porsche enthusiasts. Production of the 2011 Porsche 911 Speedster was limited to 356 units to complement the 356 Speedster.
